Symposium for Refugee and Immigrant ITPs and IENs

October 12, 2023by CMF_Admin

Every year, thousands of experienced health professionals – physicians and nurses – arrive in Canada from other countries looking for better lives for themselves and their families. Many of these health professionals come from diverse backgrounds, with a wealth of knowledge and experience often having faced difficult situations and acquiring unique interpersonal and professional skills. Immigrants and refugees still face obstacles when attempting to integrate into the Canadian workforce.

This Saturday, October 14, join our partner, The Pegasus Institute, as they host a symposium that will feature in-depth information sessions on the integration of international medical and nursing graduates into the Canadian health system. Attendees will gain valuable insights from the personal experiences of refugee and immigrant medical and nursing graduates, offering a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they face. Participants can choose to attend in person in Ottawa or join the session online.

In 2022 the CMF partnered with The Pegasus Institute to use knowledge mobilization practices (i.e., knowledge synthesis, dissemination, transfer, exchange, and co-creation by researchers and knowledge users) to build agency within IEHP communities and increase their access to accurate and relevant centralized resources to help them in their journey in searching for suitable pathways to licensure or related employment in the healthcare field upon arrival to Canada.
