Setting: Hospital

Role: You will work alongside the obstetrics and gynecology surgeons and labour and delivery staff to help pregnant women struggling with complex pregnancies and deliveries. Procedures performed with the team may be: Spinal or IV anesthesia for C-sections; Emergency C-Sections; C-Sections and uterine dilation/curettage/evacuation procedures; Vacuum-assisted deliveries; Perineal laceration repair (e.g. 3rd and 4th degree lacerations and obstetric fistulas); Catheterization; Management of fetal malpresentation (external cephalic version or breech delivery); Ultrasounds; Neonatal resuscitation; Gynecological examination; Management of post-delivery gynecological issues; Family planning consultations; and normal deliveries

Time Commitment: 2 weeks to 12 months

Requirements: Minimum 12 months work experience in a related field.

Cost: $150 Registration Fee, Program fees range from $1,033 CAD to $2,508 CAD. Volunteers are responsible for flights, travel insurance, and vaccines. (and visas & permits where required).
