Setting: Patient Homes & Clinics
Role: Medical professional volunteers are typically placed at a national clinic for primary and emergency care, or in an assisted living facility. Due to medical laws, professional volunteers are not allowed to practice fully and freely, however your help can greatly benefit the projects still. Volunteers can expect to do the following in their placement: Working in triage, clean wounds, draw blood samples, give sutures and injections; Provide general care and companionship to patients (talking, feeding, bathing); Distribute or sort medicine, teach patients about their medicine; Clean or prepare materials and equipment, including changing bed; and Assist with administrative work and filing, recording patient data.

Requirements: Volunteers are required to have a clear criminal record check; must be licensed medical professionals and provide proof of medical education, training, certifications and licenses; must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination & a negative PCR test before arrival; and must have a good level of fitness.
Cost: Costs range from $820 to $3,835 USD. Volunteers are responsible for flights, visas (if required), travel health insurance, lunches, daily transport to and from project (approx. $5 per day), personal expenses.
