Setting: Clinical and Mobile

Role: Biomedical technicians ensure that we can bring state-of-the-art medical equipment to even the most rural and remote hospitals. Their responsibilities include guaranteeing the integrity of hospital infrastructure and systems. They assess, monitor and repair equipment supplied by both local foundations and Global Headquarters. Our biomedical technicians are essential in ensuring the safety of our patients and volunteers on the medical program.

Time Commitment: 10 to 12 days

Requirements: Minimum 1-year experience in the Operating Room or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a non-OR setting. Hold a related degree and/or certifications (C.B.E.T. recommended).

Cost: Partially self-funded, partially org-funded. There is a $ 500 CAD team fee for those who have been on fewer than 25 missions. This helps to cover the cost of breakfasts, lunches, and accommodation while on the mission. Operation Smile covers the cost of flights.
