Role: The administration of anesthesia is a critical aspect of performing safe surgery – without it, none of Operation Smile’s work would be possible. Anesthesia providers deliver the highest level of care to a broad age range of patients from infancy to adulthood in varied environments across the globe. They work in harmony with the surgical and nursing teams to deliver anesthetic care and pain management.
Time Commitment: 10 to 12 days

Requirements: Currently licensed and in good standing. Graduate of specialty training in anesthesia and achieved the highest level of certification available. Certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent course. Certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or an equivalent course is recommended. Currently caring for pediatric patients.
Cost: Partially self-funded, partially org-funded. There is a $500 CAD team fee for those who have been on fewer than 25 missions. This helps to cover the cost of breakfasts, lunches, and accommodation while on the mission. Operation Smile covers the cost of flights.
